To raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week we're currently exploring the topic of mindfulness in the workplace. The Mental Health Foundation's research shows that an estimated 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health issue in any given year and the number is ever growing.
This year's Mental Health Awareness Week focuses on positive, healthy relationships with research from the Mental Health Foundation showing this to be the key in maintaining good mental health. The Foundation is currently lobbying national governments, public bodies and employers to promote these positive relationships in the workplace. This includes tackling workplace issues such as workload pressure, bullying and work-life balance.
At Off Limits we've joined the mindfulness revolution and launched a range of new activities to promote wellbeing in the workplace. These activities are designed to increase awareness, combat stress, improve work-life balance and inspire employees to think more positively.
The Balanced Bites challenge involves making a 2 course meal that is both nutritious and delicious. This helps to encourage effective and harmonious collaboration and communication with other team members.
The Bollywood Boost isn't your average dance class. Bollywood and Bhangra dancing is great for creativity and expression, this event is a real energy booster. It's a feel good, fresh kind of challenge that will bring a smile to your face and will get you jumping around to an infectious beat.
Public speaking is pretty daunting in the workplace but adding a dose of humour to the mix can help to create a connection with an audience. The comedy class can be a real tonic in getting employees to bond, exchange ideas and communicate in a relaxing and supportive environment.
We have a range of activities that can be used during a mindfulness session including body scanning, breathing work, mind-body association, accepting compliments, self-forgiveness, mindful eating, meditation, communication with music and aural enhancement. These activities are delivered by experts and involve learning techniques that can help individuals and teams to feel energised but calm in constantly changing environments.
Smoothie making is great fun for health and wellness and is a twist on cocktail making. Teams go head to head in a number of smoothie making challenges. The idea is to get the drinks to look as good as they taste without using bags of sugar. Be inspired and discover more healthy and natural alternatives, like ginger, mint and honey.
This session is delivered by experts and is used to show employees how to control tension and manage stress levels. The workshop incorporates a range of techniques and activities including yoga, meditation, visualisation, beginner massage and tai chi. These are designed to teach guests everything from breathing techniques and the power of laughter, to using movement and touch to prevent or alleviate stress.
This fun activity is designed to get the creative juices flowing through canvases and tubes of paint. Individuals learn about brushing and blending colour during each of the sessions. This activity is true art therapy!
